Just Like a Book, More Than My Cover is a dynamic three-part artist residency led by Ferene at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. The residency will culminate in a vibrant story slam event empowering participants to share their stories to an audience. Ferene believes that everyone has a story worth sharing and will emcee the evening with warmth and curiosity, asking attendees, “What’s yours?” This final gathering not only celebrates the creative journey but also highlights the diverse voices and experiences of all participants. Part 2: Creating Personal Narratives through Art
Just Like a Book, More Than My Cover is a dynamic three-part artist residency led by Ferene at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. In this hands-on workshop led by Ferene, attendees will collaborate on a creative art project, constructing book themed art that visually and textually represent their inner and outer selves. Each participant will have the opportunity to craft and share personal stories, using various artistic mediums to express their individuality. This part of the residency fosters a sense of community and self-exploration, allowing participants to see the connections between their personal narratives and those of others. Part 1: Discovering Self-Identity Through Culture and Conversation

Storytelling: The Heart Map to Racial Healing & Transformation
Through the art of storytelling, Ferene Paris invites the Hartford School District to do a collective heart check. More than ever, leaning into the most authentic parts of ourselves is needed to guide us towards racial healing and equity.
Experience the power of vulnerability as Ferene shares her lived experiences, gifting a glimpse into the ways racial healing can transform our human existence.

IAA Artist Residency
This winter season, Ferene is the artist in residence at Integrated Arts Academy (IAA). Living Out Loud, One Story at a Time series invites the IAA community to engage in various forms of storytelling, exploring and celebrating identity. Throughout the 6-week residency, Ferene will work directly with each classroom (K - 5th), as well as facilitate workshops for staff inservice and PTO.
